Dynamic User Interface: Soda Mixer Station System
For Sluggerpunk, one of the systems that was added later in development was the custom energy drink system that acted as a way to give players a temporary buff that they could use a limited amount of times per run, until refilled.
The system worked by taking in two different flavors of drink, which each had a player buff of some kind (such as extra speed, longer dash distances, etc.), and mixing them into a drink that would grant you two buffs the moment you take it (Inspired by the Wondrous Physick system in Elden Ring).
One of my goals while designing this menu was to make it feel as if you were using a soda station at a fast food place. I created some sprites to represent the soda machine, and the different flavors that the player can choose from.
